What is KidKit?
KidKit is a family collaboration app that helps parents, grandparents, and caregivers track where children's clothing items are located. Perfect for families with kids aged 0-12, it lets you see at a glance whether Emma's rain boots are at home, daycare, or at Grandma's house - updated in real-time across all your devices.
Is KidKit free?
Yes, KidKit is free to start! The free tier includes tracking for 1 child, 10 clothing items, and 3 custom areas. Perfect for trying it out. Premium unlocks unlimited children, items, and areas, plus advanced features like item grouping, photos, and more. Premium subscriptions are managed directly through Apple's App Store.
What devices does KidKit support?
KidKit is currently available for iPhone and iPad running iOS 15 or later. The app is built with SwiftUI for a native iOS experience with support for Light/Dark Mode and accessibility features like VoiceOver and Dynamic Type.
How does real-time synchronization work?
KidKit uses WebSocket technology powered by Fastly Edge Computing to provide instant updates. When Mom drops off a jacket at daycare and marks it in the app, Dad at home and Grandma at her house see the update immediately. No manual refresh needed!
Will KidKit send me lots of notifications?
No. KidKit does not send push notifications today, and there is no notifications screen to manage. Open the app when you want to check something — we designed it to help you organize, not to interrupt your day. We may add optional alerts in the future, but we will not spam your family.
Is my family's data secure?
Absolutely. KidKit uses Sign in with Apple for secure authentication. Your data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored securely on Fastly's edge computing infrastructure. We collect minimal data - only what's needed for the app to work. We do not run advertising trackers or usage analytics inside KidKit to profile your family or sell your information. The app includes a comprehensive Privacy Manifest compliant with Apple's requirements.
How does subscription sharing work in families?
Only one family member needs an active Premium subscription — everyone in the family shares Premium features. The subscription screen shows who's currently providing it, so it's always clear at a glance. If you join a family that already has a subscriber, your own subscription is cancelled automatically — no double-paying. If the provider's subscription lapses, another family member can subscribe to take over, and Premium access continues without interruption. In the rare case two members end up with separate active subscriptions at once, both keep access, but KidKit can't cancel an Apple subscription for you — cancel the redundant one yourself in Apple Account settings.
